why where is my train app is the best app for indian users
just from the title, you can probably guess what i’m going to say.
but still, i want to share my real-time experience with this app and why i find it so useful.
usually, i’ll travel from coimbatore to chennai or vice versa, and sometimes to other parts of india as well. whenever i’m travelling by train, most of the time, i’ll use this app to get details about my train, especially the platform number.
most of the time, the information is correct.
sometimes, it does make mistakes, like the one shown in the screenshot below. but once the correct platform information is updated, the app will show the updated information.
tracking the train
another feature i really like is the ability to track the train using gps.
we can see where the train currently is, which station it has crossed, and how much delay the train has.
we can also get an idea of when the train might reach the next station.
this is really useful when you’re travelling and someone at home is asking:
“where have you reached?”
instead of trying to figure it out yourself, you can simply open the app and check where the train is.
i’ve seen so many people using this app
if you’re travelling by train in india, there’s a good chance you’ve seen someone using this app.
people use it to check where their train is and then call their family members saying things like:
“we’ve reached this station.”
or:
“the train is delayed. we’ll reach a little later.”
or:
“we’ve crossed this station. we’ll be there in another hour.”
i’ve seen this happen so many times that it almost feels like this app has become a common tool for train travellers.
the coach order is really useful
another feature i find useful is the coach order.
when you’re waiting on a railway platform, it can be difficult to figure out exactly where your coach is going to arrive.
the app shows the coach order, so you can get an idea of where you need to stand on the platform.
this might sound like a small feature, but when you’re standing on a crowded platform with luggage and the train is about to arrive, knowing where your coach will be can save you from running from one end of the platform to another.
most of the time, railway stations display the coach order on their boards. but in some cases, they might not show it due to technical issues or other reasons.
that’s when this app can come in handy.
